A growing number of women – mostly Muslim – are getting ‘virginity repair’ operations before marriage, it has emerged.

About 116 hymen replacement operations were carried out on the NHS between 2005 and 2009.

There were 30 NHS operations in 2009 – up 25 per cent from 24 in 2005, official figures show.

Private clinics are also reporting a surge in demand for the procedure which costs up to £4,000, especially among Muslim women.

Excuse me but I cannot see how replacing hymens is a good use of our money??

This is Kieran Prickett

Apparently he has attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

What nonsense.
What he has is parents who are incapable, or unwilling, to tell him what is right and wrong and to instill in him the limits to which he can go.

A severe beating wouldn’t come amiss for Master Prickett??

Social services shouldn’t be blamed. It’s not their job to look after children??
If you have a baby you get to look after it and guide it in the right direction. If you endow it with the basic knowledge that it can do what it likes providing it causes no harm to another living being it will probably grow up OK.
Living being BTW does not only mean humans.

Mother Kelly, 28, has had to give up her job as a care worker to look after Kieran.

Oh, deary me. What a shame.
A mother has to look after her child??

Comes with the job of motherhood Kelly.
Live with it and stop trying to blame everybody else.

New details, including reports on Osama Bin Laden dating from 2006, have emerged from 90,000 US military files leaked to the Wikileaks website.

Several files track Bin Laden, although the US has said it had received no reliable information on him “in years”.

The details come as the Pentagon investigates who leaked the classified documents, in an act the White House says could harm national security.

I am at a loss to understand the fuss being made about the Wikileak disclosures.

What the people that are complaining should realise is that this is ‘OUR’ information.
Governments are put there to run the country because we haven’t got time to do it ourselves.

They are NOT put there to hide things from us.

We are paying for all this crap. We have a right to know what’s going on??

They clearly didn’t ask anybody that I know, nor any of the hundreds of people at my place of work.

Probably asked a group of 1000 people building the sites??

David Cameron has promised to “fight” for Turkey’s membership of the European Union, saying he is “angry” at the slow pace of negotiations.

On his first visit as prime minister, he said the country could become a “great European power”, helping build links with the Middle East.

It must be something to do with the environment at No 10 that turns you into a madman???

David Cameron has almost certainly taken leave of his senses. Turkey is not remotely like any other country in the EU.
I don’t know any Turkish people and they may well all be wonderfully nice but Turkey should not gain admittance to the EU. It is to be hoped that Germany keeps up it’s opposition.

Why is David Cameron travelling the world??? His job is to be here and to sort out the myriad problems that pervade our lives.
Britain hasn’t been a world power for a good many years now so there is no need for him to grandstand around the world. Last week he was in the USA. today Turkey and then onto India.

I’m sure he’s enjoying himself but he’s not paying his own fare is he??? Nor are the countless other people that will be with him.

Well, that’s the first week after my holiday completed :)

I can’t say that I am displeased :)

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and cholesterol a few weeks ago. The readings weren’t as high as they could have been but action was clearly required.
My doctor, straight away, put me onto medication for both blood pressure and cholesterol.
The cholesterol pills have been a bit of a problem for me, causing a few side effects.
I’m pleased to say that these have abated a bit now.
I was a bit surprised that neither the doctor or the nurse or the lady who conducted my ECG mentioned diet as a response to my readings.

I will be the first to admit that my diet has not been a healthy one for the past few years at least and I would have thought that a significant change of diet would go a very long way to reducing both the problems.
However, as I said, no mention was made.
I have started my own healthy eating (or at least a lot healthier than it was) regime now and I hope that by the time my next set of tests come around in a couple of months, that I will be able to stop taking at least one of the pills.
The doctor seems to be of the opinion that, once started, both these medications are a lifelong thing but I can’t see it.

I don’t like pills :)

Irish homeowners can now legally use guns to defend themselves if their homes are attacked under new legislation.

The new home defense bill has moved the balance of rights back to the house owner if his home is broken into “where it should always have been”, say top Irish police.

The police association of superintendents and inspectors, the AGSI, stated that “the current situation, which legally demands a house owner retreat from an intruder, was intolerable”.

Ireland seems to have the right idea here??

Today is the last day of my holiday.

I have spent far too much of it in front of this screen but I have been using the ‘Next Blog’ tab on Blogger to wend my merry way through what seems like thousands, but is probably about a hundred, blogs.

I would hazard a guess that at least 75% of them are from the USA and 90% of the ones I’ve seen today from ‘the home of the brave’ are put up by people expounding the benefits of ‘finding’ Jesus.

What is wrong with these people???

I have always thought there was something very strange about Americans. Whenever you see a news item on TV that involves somebody dying you see crowds of people hugging each other and crying in unison.
Could be my British ‘stiff upper lip’ I suppose but I cannot but help finding this all very disconcerting.

These are the supposed leaders of the free world and they are all, well mostly, acting like children.

I would be inclined to be a bit worried but

(a) I’m getting old now and

(b) looks like they are not going to be world leaders for too much longer :)

I rest my case :)
