David Beckham will bring the Olympic flame back to the UK from the Greek capital Athens along with Princess Anne, Olympic organisers have said.

The footballer and Team GB hopeful will be at a ceremony where the flame is passed to London on Thursday evening, after a week-long relay around Greece.

The delegation, including five young people, will fly back on BA2012.

They land at a Cornish air base on Friday evening, ahead of the start of the torch relay on Saturday morning.

The flame, which was lit from the rays of the sun at Olympia on 10 May, will be passed on to London in a ceremony at the Panathenaic Stadium.

London 2012 chairman Seb Coe, British Olympic Association President and Locog Board Member the Princess Royal, Olympics minister Hugh Robertson and London Mayor Boris Johnson are part of the delegation in Greece to receive the flame.

So, we have all these people, part of the ‘great and the good’ going to Athens at our expense to collect a flame!!!
We are an advanced country. We have matches.
A humble slave like me could light a flame by going to the corner shop and buying a box of matches.
It is really sad that we, as a country, are putting up with all this nonsense at a time when we haven’t got any money – supposedly.

Always easy to find a few pounds to send privileged people on a foreign trip though??

So Lord Brown – whoever he may be – has decreed that the pay they get is holding back talent.

The coalition’s crackdown on civil service pay is making it difficult to recruit “talented” staff, government adviser Lord Browne has said.

The former BP chief was drafted in to sharpen up the way Whitehall is run.

But his second annual report as the government’s lead non-executive director says public sector pay “constraints” were not helping.

Well, pardon me but we don’t need ‘talent’ do we??
We just need people who are capable of holding costs down while receiving a salary commensurate with having an ‘easy’ job.

They have all been bleating in the past days about plans to cut their pensions but it is all nonsense??
They are being asked to contribute towards their own pensions like the rest of us.

I have absolutely no sympathy with any of them. In fact I reckon that they should contribute 100% of the payments into their pension fund.
I have no desire at all to contribute towards any of it.
Ask me and I may change my mind.
Tell me I’m paying with a threat of force if I don’t and you lose my vote???

If this is the price of holding the Olympic Games whyever are we doing it?

It’s costing an absolute fortune at a time when we have no spare money and for what purpose???

Last night a military jet screamed over my house at a low level making a horrendous noise and frightening the cat to death!

Even at this late stage I would be in favour of cancelling the whole thing. Utter nonsense, all of it!!!

This is what is wrong with this country these days??

Loads of people without jobs. People being thrown out of their homes. The elderly struggle to heat their homes and eat.

However there is always the odd half a million to waste on a boat to celebrate the rule of someone who has sold us all down the river??

Why is nobody protesting this???

David Cameron must surely be one of the biggest morons ever to hold the office of PM in Britain???

Not content with announcing plans to snoop on every communication you ever make in future he announces the launch of a bank, financed by your own money, to fund projects that he and his ilk think are a good thing.
Never mind asking you if you want your money to be spent in this way.

A new financial institution set up by the UK government to finance charities and community groups has been launched.

Big Society Capital has £600m, of which the majority comes from unused cash in bank accounts that had been dormant for more than 15 years.

The fund will back social enterprises that prove they can repay an investment through the income they generate.

“This is about supplying capital to help society expand,” said Prime Minister David Cameron.

I guess the one good thing about all this is that I never again will have to feel guilty about not donating to a charity??
I will have already paid – by force!!!

This is Australian but the same applies to the nonsense being promulgated by the British government.
